Let’s get you connected for your upcoming video call! This guide assumes that you already have an Online Appointment booked with your provider. You will want to reach out to your clinic directly if you are unsure.
There are two ways you can begin your Online Appointment.
1. Join via Email Appointment Reminder
You will receive an Appointment Reminder email sent to you by your provider 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. You can join the video call up to 30 minutes ahead of your appointment start time if you want to take a moment to test your set up.
Click the Join video call button at the bottom of the email to begin:
2. Join via My Account
Alternatively, you can access this same Begin button by visiting your clinic’s Jane site, using the Sign In or Sign Up button in the top right-hand corner, and logging into your account. This option is great if you don’t have access to the email the invite was sent to, but need to join the session.
The URL to the clinic’s Jane site will look something like clinicnamehere.janeapp.com — often, clinics will include a direct link to their Jane online booking site on their website, but you can always ask if you are unsure!
Once you have logged into your account, you will want to navigate to the Upcoming Appointments tab on the left-hand side, then click the blue Begin button next to today’s appointment. The begin button will be available up to 30 minutes ahead of your appointment start time if you want to join early and take a moment to test your set up.
💡For your security and privacy, Jane’s Online Appointments are not designed to record or store audio or video.
On the next page, you will see a quick reminder to use an updated browser and a fast internet connection for the video call.
Here are a few guides on how to update your browser:
- How to update your Google Chrome browser
- How to update your Safari browser
- How to update your Firefox browser
- How to update your Microsoft Edge browser
Jane and the clinic will need your consent before your Online Appointment begins. To provide it, click the I Consent button.
This will start the call in a separate window, and you will enter a private waiting area. You may be prompted to Request permissions for your browser to use your camera and microphone, which you’ll want to allow.
Next, you’ll have the option to run a test of your camera, microphone, and connection speed.
On the next screen, you can edit your call settings by clicking the cogwheel icon. You’ll have access to these settings within the call as well.
You can also change which camera and microphone you’re using and when you’re ready, click the blue Enter waiting room button at the bottom of the screen. Your practitioner will be notified and will admit you as soon as they’re ready.
Once you have joined the call, you’ll see some icons along the top and bottom of the screen. Here’s the different settings you can adjust during the call:
- Hover your mouse over your camera or microphone icon to adjust your settings
- Click the Share button to share your screen. (Please note, you can only share your screen using a laptop or desktop computer.)
- Click the Chat button to open the chat where you can write messages or share files
- Click the People button to see the participants.
- Click the Cogwheel in the upper-right corner of the screen to adjust your settings, use a virtual background, or enter low-data mode if your internet connection is unstable.
Adjusting the size of your video tile
By default, your video tile will be smaller than the other participants and this is called Pop out mode. You can make your tile the same size as the others in the call by clicking the Pop out button on your own video tile.
Hide-Self View
To minimize or hide your tile, first make sure Pop out mode is enabled and your video tile is smaller than the others on the screen. If it’s not enabled already, you can click the Pop out button on your video tile. Your tile should now be smaller than the others in the call.
The Pop out button is in the upper-right corner of your tile. On mobile devices, you’ll find it by clicking the three dots on your tile.
Then, to hide your tile completely, hover over it and click or tap the arrow on the left to tuck it away. You can get your tile back by clinking the arrow again.
After the Online Appointment
Once you leave the call, you’ll have an opportunity to share your feedback about the video call with the Jane team as we look to continue refining the experience.
💡It’s important NOT to provide any private health information in this feedback since it will be reviewed by the Jane team.
If you would like to go back into the call, you can click the Re-Join Online Appointment button to reopen the call window.
