Need to move a credit from one patient’s account to another? No problem! You can do this using the gift card feature. We’ll be taking a credit sitting in one patient’s account and moving it to another patient who needs to use it.
Let’s break down the steps together 😎
Creating and Loading the Gift Card
The first step is to create and load a gift card using the initial patient’s credit. We’ll walk through the basics, but for more details, you can check out this guide Loading a Gift Card Using a Credit on File.
To start, head over to the patient’s profile, click on Billing and then select New Gift Card.
Next, enter a name for the gift card that is at least 6 characters or click on the blue generate a fresh number text for Jane to create one for you.
Make sure to click on the blue Next button to continue. From there, you’ll enter the amount sitting as a credit on the patient’s profile. For this example, we’ll be loading $150 onto the card.
Once you click the blue Next button, Jane should display the credit as the payment method. If this is the case, you can click on the blue Pay button at the bottom of the Receive Payment screen to apply the payment, without notifying the customer.
💡 If the credit isn’t being selected as the payment method, you can click the X to the right of the amount you’re loading. From there, you can click on the blue Add Payment Method text, and Jane will display the credit as the first option ⤵️
Transferring the Balance
Great! You’ve created your gift card. Now you can choose how to handle it:
Option 1: Redeem the gift card directly
The quickest way to share a Gift Card balance from one patient to another is to simply Redeem the Gift Card at the time of purchase or the appointment.
Option 2: Transfer the balance to create account credit
Since direct transfers aren’t a thing (yet), this process comes in handy if you’d like to see the credit reflected on another patient’s profile or if you need to transfer a credit between two patient profiles.
